Westbank Country Opry
September 29 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm$15.00
The Westbank Country Opry is pleased to welcome Mikie Spillett as our special guest to start our 25th season.
Mikie was born in Vancouver and raised on a 1000 acre ranch in the Cariboo on Crystal Lake. She was raised with cattle, horses, sheep, dogs, cats, and donkeys (and of course parents and a sibling) and learned to ride and break horses naturally. She sang for family and friends from the age of 5 years old and never stopped.
She sang near the water fall at the end of their ranch to hear herself echo and made up campfire songs and poems all her life. She was the 1977 High School Rodeo Queen for 100 Mile House and was Miss Cariboo in 1978.
She moved to the Okanagan in the late 1990s and fell in love with the climate. After raising two children, she decided it was “her” time and has never looked back. In 2004 she placed in the top five contestants in Starsearch and the Starsearch 2004 CD was in Walmart. She won Okanagan Idol in 2006 and is now in the process of touring BC.
Her latest songs are “Boobs in the front, Payback’s a Bitch, Toyboy, Cougar Crawl, Ain’t No Granny, Dingo, In Gods Hands, Tingle, Monkey Wrench Blues and Cowgirl Up.”
She loves to perform for the guests on the Kettle Valley Steam Railway in Summerland as Saloon Girl Kate Kincaid and has many fans from the “Red Hats” who she proudly performs for, over lunches etc. She have been to the 2004 CCMA awards and met many country music entertainers and knows “that is where she wants to be.” She says” I’m not getting older, but better!” So gather up all your pals and head on down to the nearest saloon where she is performing and have yourself an entertaining night!
